Funeral services were 10:30 a. m., Saturday, November 20, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. L. Jack Ehlers officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Lilienthal, Keith Lilienthal, Donald Lilienthal, Gerald Otto, Gene Otto and Donald Paulsen. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa, with full Military Honors conducted by the Durant America Legion Post #430.
Elmer Ernest Otto was born March 19, 1897, in Muscatine County, the son of William and Wilhelmine (Martens) Otto. He received his education in the Muscatine County schools. He proudly served in the U. S., Army during World War I. He married Meta Martha Lilienthal on February 15, 1922, in Davenport. Together they farmed, until they retired in 1970.
Surviving are his wife, Meta; two daughters, Leila (Hilbert) Ovesen of Stockton and Eloise (Lyle) Sissel of Muscatine; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther (Fritz) Stoltenberg of Davenport; and two brothers, Eldon Otto and Herbert Otto, both of Durant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
