Humphrey [From the Democrat]
Mary Elizabeth, the three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eckholt died yesterday morning shortly after one o'clock after an illness of only a few hours. Wednesday afternoon it was noticed that the little girl had a slight cold and she was taken to Dr. Metz for treatment. Along toward evening she complained of being tired and she laid down and took a short sleep and then went out and played until supper. She ate a hearty supper and then went out and played again for an hour or so when she went home and complained of being tired again. She was put to bed and about eight o'clock her breathing became so hard that Dr. Metz was called and he pronounced it a serious case of congestion of the lungs. The little girl lingered in intense agony until a few minutes after one o'clock when she quietly passed away without a struggle. The funeral was held at 8 o'clock this morning and the remains were placed in St. Francis cemetery.
