Russell - Mrs. Amelia (Herdt) Dumler, 64, died Monday afternoon (Sept. 26, 1966) of a heart attack in the Manhattan Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 4, 1902 in North Barton Co., she moved with her parents to Russell in 1919 where she married John Dumler June 12, 1921. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
She is survived by the widower; sons, Glenn and Donald, both of Overland Park; daughters, Mrs. Lillian Odum and Mrs. Phyllis Morgenstern, both of Russell; sisters, Mrs. Henry Ehrlich, Oakley; Mrs. Fred Schneider, Russell; and Mrs. Dave Opleter, Oakley, and a brother, Jacob Herdt, Dighton.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wed. at the church following 1:30 p.m. services for the family at the ..... The Rev. R.G. Sedo will officiate; burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. John Dumler
Amelia Dumler, daughter of George H. and Anna Eizabeth (Eichman) Herdt, was born in Barton Co., Kansas, Jan. 4, 1902. She died Sept. 26, 1966 in Riley Memorial Hospital, Manhattan, Kansas. Her age was 64 years 8 months and 22 days.
She moved with her parents to Oakley, Kansas, where she attended school and grew to womanhood. In 1919, the family came to Russell to establish a home. Here she was married to John Dumler, June 12, 1921.
There were four children born to this marriage, all of whom survive her.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She remained a true and devout member of St. John Lutheran Church since coming to Russell. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she centered her interests in her home, her family and in the business ventures her husband engaged in during the 45 years they were married.
They operated Dumler's Market in south Russell for many years, and she was active in the business place until the time of her death. She had gone to Kansas City to visit her sons and their families, and while there suffered a heart attack. After receiving medical care, she was released from hospital to return home. Enroute home with a grandson, she suffered another attack and was taken to the Manhatten hospital where she died.
Survivors include the widower, John Dumler, 5 Lincoln St., Russell; two sons, Glenn V. Dumler and Donald H. Dumler, both of Overland Park; two daughters, Lillian F. Odum and Phyllis A. Morgenstern, both of Russell; 10 grandchildren; one great grand child and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Ehrlich, Mrs. Fred Schneider and Mrs. Dave Oblander; a brother, Jacob Herdt and other relatives and friends.
Her parents and two brothers, Fred and Henry Herdt, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Sept. 28, in St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. R. G. Sedo, officiating.
Pallbearers were Lester Herdt, Virgil Oblander, Clayton Karst, Egon Ehrlich, Everett Dumler and Alvin Schneider.
Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell, with Deines Brothers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

NOTE: Their son, Donald H. Dumler (3/18/1928 - 11/11/1997) is buried in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth KS and I cannot connect him.
