Lydia E. Handrick-Hornung, 91, Marathon, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

She was born January 5, 1921, in Green Valley, Wis., daughter of the late Carl and Bertha (Gall) Hirsch.

On May 30, 1941, she married Mark Handrick at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1980. Her second marriage was to Herman "Hummy" Hornung on August 13, 1988, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2000.

Survivors include, five children; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one step-son; one step daughter-in-law; one sister-in-law, Lucille Hirsch, Marshfield; and six step grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; two step great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one step granddaughter, Lynnise Eckardt; her infant sister, Lena; her sister, Elsie Gall; and four brothers, Edmund, Henry, Arthur and Reinhold Hirsch.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon.
