Lawrence Beumer, formerly of Rock Valley passed away at Independence, IA on Tueday July 16. he was born in Rock Valley on September 19, 1895 to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard (Ben) and Theresa (Escher) Beumer. He received his education in the Rock Valley schools and graduated in 1915. He was on the basket ball team and the high school baseball team, also played on the town baseball team. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1917 with company E and served with the 168th Infantry Regiment of the Rainbow Division for two years. His health has been poor since coming home from overseas and he suffered a heart attack in March of this year. he was given full military honors by the Sheehan-Tidball post No. 39 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lawrence was associated in business with his brother Sebastian in the Beumer Cafe and left 10 years ago to live with his sister Julia O'Brien. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ed, Will, Sebastian and Joseph.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Rose Prunty, Andover, SD; Mrs. Joseph Duwa and Mrs. Julia O'Brien both of Independence.
