Elizabeth Tittel, daughter of Fred and Katie (Keil) Steinert, was born July 6, 1982, in Barton County, KS. Her death occurred September 17, 1979, at Russell City Hospital after a few weeks of failing health. Her age was 87 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Elizabeth lived her early life on the family farm south of Russell. She received her basic education in the rural school near the family home and on September 10, 1910, she married George Tittel, at Milberger. This union was blessed with four children, Luella, Raymond, Clarence and Isetta.

Most of her early married life was filled with the many activities of the farming housewife and mother. She assisted to the needs of her parents as they grew older. In 1954, she moved to Russell and had made her home at 920 E. 6th St. since that time. On December 23,1971, her husband, George, died and she devoted much of her time to her children and grandchildren.

Her early Christian life was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. She was baptized as a infant and later confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger where she remained a member for many years. She transferred her membership to St. John Lutheran Church in Russell in recent years when she was no longer able to go to Milberger to attend church.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents and husband; one son, Clarence; two brothers, Fred and Dave Steinert; and one sister, Mary Niedens; also 3 grandchildren: Freddie and June Miller; and Sharon Claussing.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Gerhard (Luella) Miller of Loveland, CO; Raymond R. Tittel of rural Russell; and Mrs. Don (Isetta) Murphy of Russell. Other survivors are two brothers, Sieg K. and Ben K. Steinert, both of Gt. Bend, KS; and 6 grandchildren and 11 gt. grandchildren; several other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Sept. 20, 1979 at St. John Lutheran with Rev. Herman Frerichs and Vicar Gregg Davison officiating. Burial in Russell City Cem. Pohlman's Mortuary in charge.
