Andrew "Andy" Mixter was born March 31, 1921, in Swissvale, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of Madison "Clark" and Rose (Demko) Mixter. Shortly after his birth the family moved back to Cleveland, Ohio and lived on the near west side close to Rose's family.

Andy was educated in the Catholic schools near their home, first attending St. Procops Elementary School. He served as an altar boy while attending St. Procops. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He learned to play the piano and clarinet, and was in the St. Ignatius marching band.

After graduation he worked at Gundlings Sunoco Service Station near his parents home. That is where he met his future wife, Dorothy O. Schweter. Dorothy's brother worked with Andy at the service station. Andy was drafted into the Army on August 8, 1942. He was a Medical and Dental Technician in the Army, and for a time was stationed in India. He was decorated with the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.

The whole family would join in the fun at the Camplands.

One year after the death of his wife, Dorothy, Andy married Geraldine Bullock, a resident of Andover, Ohio. They were married six months when Andy suffered a massive heart attack and died February 21, 1983.
