Walter Goodman, 86, of Story, WY, passed away on March 4, 2012, at his home of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Goodman was born in Sheridan, WY, on February 11, 1926, to Henry Goodman, Sr. and Katherine (Glantz) Goodman. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was stationed in France, Germany and Belgium and also participated in the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge he married Norma Jean Deines in 1948 and they had three children; Walter "Wayne" (Elizbeth) Goodman of Joliet, MT; Marilyn Winner (Mike Hiller) of Big Horn, WY, and Kathleen Taylor of Casper, WY.

Walt married Linda Coghan in 1981 and has a stepson, Tim (Lisa) Coghan of Florida. In 1989, he married Phillis Bears and has four stepchildren; Clinton (Stacy) Bears of Arizona; Bonnie Wood (Larry Joubert) of Buffalo, WY; and Beckie (Mark) Garrett of Nisland, SD.

Walt was a ranch foreman for Henry Burgess on Lower Prairie Dog Road for many years. He worked in the Sheridan area until his retirement.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, two infant siblings, brothers Henry Goodman, Jr. and Robert Goodman; sisters Geraldine Lower, Ann Vick, Frieida Kauffman, Rachael Schmidt, Rose Zowada, and Helen Hughes; and two great-grand children. He is survived by a brother Bill (Norma) Goodman of Sheridan.

Walt's life was especially enriched by his beloved grandchildren, Ryan Winner of Cody, WY; Jessica Winner of Big Horn, WY; James "JW" Olson of Erbil, Iraq (Sheridan, WY); Thad Taylor of Casper, WY; Brandy Taylor of Casper, WY; and Isbel Weaver of Joliet, MT. Walt has 23 step grandchildren and 19 1⁄2 great-grandchildren.

Walt enjoyed horses, ranching, fishing, dancing, visiting and teasing. His wisdom, caring, wonderful attitude and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
