Mrs. Caroline Kneipp
Full of years and crowned with honor and esteem, another of the old pioneers passed to her reward on Saturday evening last in the person of Mrs. Caroline Kneipp. The deceased lady was the widow of the late Mr. Jonn Kneipp of Dundee, and was 82 years of age. With her husband, of whom was she bereaved, twelve years ago, Mrs. Kneipp experienced much of the hardships of the early colonists, but nevertheless lived to see miraculous change from the days when she first faced the difficulties of life in an unknown land 62 year ago. In due course the young couple settled at Dundee, where she remained until a lew years ago, when she came to Glen Innes and spent her declining years with her son, Mr. John Kneipp, at "Craigieburn," the picturesque cottage in the "old mill paddock " A pattern of industry— as were most of the pioneering women of her day — a model wife and mother and a good neighbour, it was only natural that Mrs. Kneipp should be held in the highest esteem by a very wide circle of friends, who will hear of her death with great regret.
The late Mrs. Kneipp is survived by seven sons and three daughters—Messrs. John (Glen Innes), Frank (Dundee), Frederick (Mayor of Tenterfield), William (Dundee), George (Ashford), James (Brisbane), Charles (Grafton). Mr. Wm. Heydon (Sydney), Mrs. A. Goodwin (Sydney). Mrs. W. Jordan (Brisbane). A daughter, Nurse Kneipp, of Glen Innes, predeceased her mother. Mr.Fred Utz, who prior to his death was one of the most prominent citizens of Glen Innes, was a brother of the late Mrs. Kneipp.
The funeral took place this afternoon when many old friends showed their respect for the deceased lady by their attendance at the graveside. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Glen Innes cemetery, the Rev. H. K. Gordon conducting the burial service. Mr. F. Day had charge of the mortuary arrangements.
