Julia V. Wozny , 87, residing at 67668 Lake Trail, Lakeville, Ind., passed away at 11:48 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at the St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind.
Mrs. Wozny retired after many years from the Union North United School Corporation as the head of the cafeteria.
She was born on June 20, 1909, in Lakeville, to the late Charles and Anna (Barkley) Fuchs. Julia lived in Mishawaka from 1929 until 1948, and had been a resident of Lakeville since 1948.
She was married on November 19, 1927, to John Leo Wozny , Sr., who preceded her in death on December 7, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Wozny , Jr.; a granddaughter, Carolyn Ross in 1987; and by four brothers, Spooner, Donald, James and George.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Jane Weiler and Betty Bennett, both of Lakeville; two sons; Mike Wozny of Lakeville and Danny Wozny of South Bend, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Grimes of South Bend; five brothers, John and Ross Fuchs, both of Bremen, Ind., Bobbie Fuchs of Lakeville, and Fritz and Jack Fuchs, both of South Bend.
Julia was a member of the Lakeville United Methodist Church, the Ernestine Circle of the church, and was a past member of the Union North United School Board. The school board Julia was on was judge-appointed and was the first school board in history.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Lakeville United Methodist Church. Rev. David Cross, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
