Anna Krause, 97, Jamestown, ND died Friday March 16, 2012 at the Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

Anna Wegner was born October 24, 1914 in rural Stutsman County; the 10th of 13 children of Gottfried Wegner and Pauline (Schlenker) Wegner. She lived her entire life in Stutsman County where she attended rural schools and worked on her father's farm.

She and Herbert Krause were married June 13, 1937 at Alfred, ND. They farmed north of Alfred in Stutsman County settling on Jacob Krause's homestead in 1946 and lived there until they retired in 1967 and moved to Jamestown. After retiring from the farm, Anna worked in the kitchen at the Central Dakota Nursing Home now known as the Ave Maria for 9 years. She also delivered Meals on Wheels as a volunteer for 6 years and helped with Bingo at the High Acres Nursing Home.

Anna was a member of and active in the United Church of Christ Congregational churches at Alfred, Gackle and Jamestown. She was a member of the Alfred church choir as well as a member of the quartet, made up of herself plus her brother Ted, sister, Hulda and Wm. Kuhn.

During Anna's lifetime she enjoyed embroidering, reading, gardening, visiting relatives and traveling. She and Herbert had traveled to 49 of the US states, missing only Alaska.

Surviving are 5 children, Lucille (Elroy) Letcher, Helena, MT; Rosella Sally (James) Porter, Boise, ID; Harry (Brenda) Krause, Gackle, ND; Gary (Karen) Krause, Frazee, MN; Jeffrey (Brenda) Krause, Palo, IA;

13 grandchildren, Dean (Susan) Letcher, Sonoma, CA; Renee (Todd) Erickson, Kalispell, MT; Owen (Lisa) Letcher, Sacramento, CA; Michael (Joanie) Porter; Dennis (Stacy) Porter, all of Boise, ID; Mitchell (Mary) Krause, Chanhassen, MN; Natalie (Bill) Miller, Bismarck, ND; Rebecca (Darien) Hepper, Eden Prairie, MN; Jeremy Krause, Joshua Krause, Fargo, ND; Kayla (Lucas), Schwarzrook, Las Vegas, NV; Jacob Krause, Brooklyn Krause, both Palo, IA; 17 great grandchildren, Ashley and Bryce Letcher; Reese Erickson; Karrin and Mason Letcher; Kylie and Ryan Porter; Drew Porter; Zachery, Samantha and Chase Krause; Vanessa and Mikaela Miller; Isaac and Benjamin Hepper; Kennedy and Carter Schwarzrook;

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2007, 2 grandsons, Korey Krause, Wendell Letcher; plus all of her siblings, Gottfried, Emmanuel, Ted, Christ, Arthur, Ray, Melvin, Emelia, Charlotte, Mathilda, Pauline and Hulda.

Fneral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday March 23, 2012 at the United Church of Christ in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Martin Nussbaum, officiating.

Interment will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND.
