Mrs. Alfred Thomas Suffers Double Affliction
Two deaths occurring within twenty-four hours, taking from the home a son and sister was the sorrowful experience of Mrs. Alfred Thomas of this city, this week.
For some months past her oldest son Ernest Daniels had been ill with lung trouble. Two weeks ago the sufferer was taken to the Miners Hospital, this city, where every care and attention was given him. He failed to respond to the treatment, and Saturday he was taken to Salt Lake and placed in one of the hospitals of that city. He was accompanied by his sister Mrs. Mabel Pickhardt and nurse, Mrs. Bardaley. The young man gradually grew worse, however, and Monday night passed away.
Mr. Daniels was born in Snyderville, this country, thirty-three years ago, and spent the greater portion of his life in this city, where he was held in high esteem. He served in the late war, and was a member of the local post of the American Legion.
Besides his mother, Mrs. Alfred Thomas, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Pickhardt and three half brothers, Charles, Rex and Fay Thomas of this city.
MRS. ALICE DUDLER SUDDENLY CALLED
Because of the serious illness of her nephew, Ernest Daniels, and to be with her sister, Mrs. Alfred Thomas, because of such sickness, Mrs. Alice Dudler came up from her home in Ogden last Friday to remain for a time at the Thomas home. The lady appeared to be in her usual health, and gladdened the home by her presence. Only once during her visit did she complain of a slight pain in the region of her heart. Monday night, when the news of the passing away of Mr. Daniels, the lady was naturally shocked and much depressed and towards morning was taken seriously ill. Every attention was given the lady, but without avail, and about two hours afer she was stricken and passed on to her final rest.
Mrs. Dudler was well known in Park City and her sudden death caused sincere regret among her many friends. She was a pleasing personality and possessed those womanly qualities that attract and made friends. When the large Broadwater plant was in operation, Mrs. Dudler had charge of the boarding house, and when operations were suspended Mrs. Dudler with her daughter, then Miss Violet Dudler, went to Ogden to make their home.
Mrs Dudler was born in Midway Utah, and was 44 years of age. Mr. Dudler was a former resident of this city. He died several years ago. Besides her sister, Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Dudler is survived by her daughter Mrs. Joseph Morgan of Boise Idaho, another sister, Mrs. Carrie Woods of Roosevelt Utah and two brothers Art Mohlman, for many years connected with the police department and sheriff's offices of Ogden and Ephriam Mohoman of Midway.
Funeral services over the remains of both Mr. Daniels and Mrs Dudler were held yesterday afternoon at 3 pm at the undertaking parlors of Wildmuth and Archer, and were largely attended by relatives and friends. Bishom W.J. Lewis officiated.
Both bodies were taken to Midway this morning for burial, further services being held at the L.D.S. meeting house at the place this afternoon.
To Mrs. Thomas, sincere sympathy is extended in her double bereavement, as well as to the daughter, sisters, brothers and other relatives of the two departed.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pickhardt came from their home in Evanston, Wyoming to be with the family, as did Mr. Art Mohlman, his son and two daughters of Ogden. Mrs. and Mrs. J.S. Morgan of Boise and Susie Carruth of Evanston, Wyoming.
