MaryAnn married Al Balster on February 14, 1939, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Wilmont area. They retired and moved into Wilmont in 1971. In June of 2011, MaryAnn moved to Worthington.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont and the WCCW. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, quilting, reading, word puzzles and playing cards especially 500 & Pinochle.
MaryAnn is survived by her seven children, Ron (Sharon) Balster, Worthington; Betty Balster, Oakland, CA; Marlene (Mike Olmsted) Wolfe, Brandon, SD; Elaine (Bill) Smith, Oakland, CA; Jean (George) Hoffman, Wilmont; Tom (Shirley) Balster, Minneapolis; and Ken Balster, Wilmont; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Konz, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al, on October 23, 1993; two brothers, Lawrence & Joe Vortherms; five sisters, Verna Vortherms, Marcella Vortherms, Agnes Konz, Leona Reiffenberger & Alice Mensen; and an infant brother.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, with parish prayers at 4:30 pm, at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral will be 2 pm Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Wilmont, officiated by Fr. Timothy Hall. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont.
