Viola was born March 8, 1919 in Cleveland, WI to the late William and Mabel (Zastrow) Jaeger. She attended Centerville School. On May 14, 1949, she married Herbert Hoppe at St. John's Parsonage in Port Washington. The couple farmed in the Grafton area until retiring. He preceded her in death May 17, 1978. Viola moved to the Howards Grove area in 1980. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove where she was active with the Ladies Aid and the Alter Guild.
Survivors include her sisters; Florence Lorenz of Sheboygan, Audrey Janning of Manitowoc, and Jeanette (Arthur) Kober of Sheboygan, her brother; Ellsworth Jaeger of Sheboygan, a sister-in-law: Lucille Jaeger of Manitowoc. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Herbert she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Barts, four brothers, George, Roland, Harold and Delton Jaeger, and three nephews; Leonard, Allen and Larry Barts.
Funeral Services for Viola will take place Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. The Reverend Darrel Bergelin, Pastor, will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday, at the church, from 12:30 p.m until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Port Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established to Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran High School and the Bethesda Lutheran Home in her name.
