Walter Julius Wilhelm Warzecha was a German naval commander and high ranking officer of the Kriegsmarine. Serving in the rank of Generaladmiral he served as the last Oberbefehlshaber der Kreigsmarine (Comander-in-Chief of the German Navy) at the end of World War Two.
Walter Warzecha was born in Schwiebus, Brandenburg, but the family was from Silesia originally. He grew up in Neuruppin where his father Max Warzecha was the mayor.
In 1947 he was released from being held as a prisoner of war, and he settled in Hamburg and worked for the Allianz insurance company.
He died of a heart attack on August 30, 1956 and is buried in the Nordfriedhof cemetery in Kiel Schleswig-Holstein, Deutschland (Germany).
