August Ruedebusch, well known local resident, died on Sunday noon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. J. Lang, after having been ill for six months. Mr. Ruedebusch attained the age of almost 89 years, and death was due to the ailments of advanced age.

The deceased was born on Dec. 5, 1844, a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Ruedebusch. The family came to this city when Mr. Ruedebusch was quite young, and he lived here his entire life.

On Sept. 28, 1876, he was married to Miss Minnie Langenbach, who survives with the four children, Mrs. F. J. Lang, this city; Mrs. W. H. Rueping and Mrs. J. C. Goetz, Fond du Lac; Richard A. Ruedebusch, Berkley, Calif.

Mr. Rudebusch was in the implement business in this city for many years, and of recent years has been interested in real estate. He was president of the local State bank for many years.

The funeral will be held today, Wednesday, at 2 o'clock at the late home on Horicon street. Judge E. H. Naber will be the speaker, and burial will be held in Graceland cemetery. Please omit flowers.

On Sunday afternoon our well-known fellow citizen, August Ruedebusch, who lived in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Lang, here on Horicon street, passed away from the effects of advanced age at the age of 88 years, eight months and 15 days. He was born Dec. 5, 1844 in Oldenburg, Germany. In 1859 he emigrated to America and settled here in Mayville, where he lived until his death. For fifty years he ran a farm equipment business. After retiring from this business he was active in the real estate trade. Mr. Ruedebusch served as President of Mayville State Bank for many years. He leaves behind his wife, née Langenbach; three daughters, Antoinette, Mrs. Fred Lang, from here; Marie, Mrs. W. H. Rueping, and Laura, Mrs. J. C. Goetz, of Fond du Lac and one son; Richard Ruedebusch, of California, and several grandchildren. One daughter, Helen, Mrs. Richard Schneider, died several years ago. The funeral was held yesterday, Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m., from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lang, to Graceland cemetery. County Judge Emil H. Naber, a nephew of Mr. Ruedebusch, gave the eulogy and the men's choir performed a few songs. Our condolences to the bereaved family.

August came to the US in June 1860. He started as a clerk at the Chas Ruedebusch store, later ran an agricultural implement dealership in Mayville. He helped organize the State Bank of Mayville and was the President and largest shareholder for many years. Later he owned a brick making factory at what is now the site of Mayville's swimming pool and Parkview School. August also owned a Buick dealership in Mayville, and also bought and sold farm real estate. He was mayor of Mayville from 1888-1890. Mayville's 150th Anniversary book of 1997 includes a photo of August and Minnie hosting a visit by Wisconsin's senator Robert LaFollette. DCP (Dodge County Pionier) 4-3-90 August was elected mayor of Mayville. DCP 1-7-92 August bought the bank building on Main St. and the personal residence in the 3rd ward of S.W. Lamoreaux for $10,000. Lamoreaux will continue the bank business until 1-1-93, at which time August will take it over and make it a national or state bank. DCP 8-18-92 August R. and Ernest Schwartz were in Milwaukee buying ledgers and stationery for the local bank which Ruedebusch will take over on Nov. 1. DCP 10-13-92 August and a group of stockholders are the new owners and will take over S.W. Lamoreux's Mayville Exchange Bank on Nov. 1. MN 5-18-06: The first bricks were manufactured here last Saturday at August's brickyard. MN 5-26-10: August entertained 50 friends at a farewell party at Louis Zuern's saloon. The men also accompanied him to the station the next morning to bid him farewell before he left for his trip abroad. MN 9-15-10 August bought the entire stock and building of Andrew Bachhuber on Main St. for $17,000. MN 12-19-12 There will be a horse race on the ice above the dam Sunday afternoon. August R., Henry Faust, Jerry Riordan, and Dr. George Dedolph plan to run their horses. MN 1-11-22 August resigned as president of the state bank. MN 10-29-1992 The M&I Bank of Mayville was featured in a special edition celebrating the 100th anniversary, tracing its history back to the State Bank of Mayville, which was incorporated in 1892. The State Bank was the outgrowth of the Mayville Exchange Bank founded in 1885 by Silas Lamoreux.
