Joseph Philip Stuntebeck, age 75, of Marshall died on Wednesday, May 16, 1990 at home. He was born on January 6, 1915 in Kimball, SD, the son of Henry and Mary (Fritz) Stuntebeck. He married Alice L. Plasil of Richwood on January 5, 1944 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Richwood. He farmed in the Marshall-Waterloo area for many years; and also worked at Martin's Feed Co. for over 20 years. He had also lived in Loveland, CO for approximately 3 years. Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marshall. He served in World War II from 1940 until 1943, where he saw action in New Guinea as a member of the famed Red Arrow 32nd Division. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Luther-Hamshire-Pearsall Post #279 of Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters, Bernadette (James) Blank of Marshall and Pat (John) Eustice of Quincy, IL; two sons, Warren of Palmdale, CA and Kenny of Marshall; five grandchildren; two brothers, Frank and Pete; and two sisters, Sue Detert and Marie Chic, all of Marshall. He was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marshall. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the Luther-Hamshire-Pearsall Post of Marshall. Friends may call at the Hart Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. WSJ 5/18/1990
