Tom Nevin co-owned owned "Jack White's Inn", at Ballynapark, Brittas, Co. Wicklow, with his wife Catherine Scully Nevin. They met in 1970, and were married in Rome in 1976.
He was murdered at the pub whilst counting the day's takings, in what appeared to be a burglary at the premises. It is understood that £13,000 was stolen during the incident, and his car was also taken and was later found 30 miles away in Dublin.
His wife Catherine Nevin [b. 1950] was convicted in 2000 of his murder, and of soliciting others to kill him. She received a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
Catherine Nevin made several appeals concerning the conviction and sentence which were unsuccessful.

In Loving Memory
of
THOMAS (Tom)
NEVIN
Jack Whites Inn
Brittas Bay.
Who was murdered
on 19th March 1996
aged 55 years.
Rest In Peace.
When a loved one's gone
Those we love remain
with us, for love itself
lives on. And cherished
memories never fade
because a loved one's gone ...
These we love can
never be more than
a thought apart.
For as long as there
is memory they'll live
on in the heart.
