Conrad Bellender, the son of John and Magdalene Bellender was born in Kahler, Russia, Sept. 29, 1863 and died at his home in Wamego, June 10, 1940.

He was united in marriage to Katherine Rickert on Nov. 25, 1881.

Nine children were born to this union, all dying in infancy.

He came to the U.S. in 1913 and has lived in Wamego ever since. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad until 1928 when he was forced to retire because of ill health.

He is survived by his wife at home, three brothers, Andrew of Wamego, Adam of Victoria, Kans., John of Topeka, and one sister, Mrs. Ingnatz Dieser of Milwaukee, Wis.; also by other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Freisburg officiating. Interment was in Wamego Catholic cemetery.
