Dwight Pitts age 86 of Sioux Falls (formerly of Alexandria) died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell with burial in Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria with military rites.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Dwight was born January 9, 1926 at Alexandria, SD to Charles and Ann (Lunn) Pitts. He attended the Pleasant #4 elementary school and graduated from Farmer High School in 1943.

He farmed on the home place in Wayne Township all but two years he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Dwight received a Purple Heart medal for the injury that he received during the conflict.

He was a member of the American Legion in Alexandria and the Presbyterian Church in Mitchell.

Grateful for sharing his life are his sister Margaret Pitts of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Frances M. Pitts, Faulkton, SD and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Russell, Everett and Francis (Sid) Pitts.
