PIONEER SETTLER OF KIMBALL DIES
Kimball, S.D., Aug. 20 - Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 14 for Mrs. Trena Gertson, who was one of the pioneer residents of the state. Mrs. Gertson passed away August 11. She was 77 years old.
Mrs. Gertson was born in Denmark, from which she came to Illinois in 1871 and later moved to Iowa in 1874. She came to Kimball in 1883 and has lived there ever since. In 1872 she married William Stender, and after his death she married James Gertson in 1876.
The deceased is survived by four children: Peter Stender, Massena, Iowa, F. W. Gertson, Lidgerwood, North Dakota, John Gertson, Kimball, and Mrs. F. M. Williamson, Kimball.
