Clyde was a Telegraph Operator & Depot Agent for the Rock Island Railroad.
He was the father of an adopted daughter, Margaret.

OBITUARY- CLYDE W. BERGE
Clyde W. Berge, 83, of Sabetha, died Sunday evening, August 10, 1975 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Mr. Berge was born on March 11, 1892 in South Bend, Nebraska. His parents were John W. and Ella M. Berge. He had twin sisters who died in infancy and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Mae Richardson, who died in 1963.

Mr. Berge married Louise Ehlers of Papillion, Nebraska in 1923. He went to work for the Rock Island Railroad in 1917 and lived in several towns in Kansas and Nebraska before coming to Sabetha in 1947 as station master. He retired in 1961.

Survivors include his wife, Louise E. Berge of Sabetha, and a daughter, Helen B. Richards of Merriam, Kansas. Another daughter, Margaret Brown, died in 1969. Additional survivors include four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held August 13, 1975 at 10:30 a.m.; Rev. Joseph Cooke officiated. The solo number, "Near To The Heart Of God", was sung by Mrs. Nancy Cooke and Mrs. W. R. Popkess accompanied on the organ.

Serving as casket bearers were Marlin Scarlett, Ed Garber, Mel Deaver, Karl Shump, Sr., Gerald Summers and Tom Brammer. The interment was made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
