Joseph Zitzelsberger, 79, of the town of Stockbridge, died Thursday morning, January 9, at Calumet Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Germany Feb. 17, 1889, he came to America with an uncle at the age of 12, settling in the Brothertown area.
He married the former Mary Bloechl at Merrill on Nov. 25, 1913. His wife died in 1957.

Mr. Zitzelsberger farmed and operated a peacock and deer farm in the town of Stockbridge for many years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Agnes) Schaefer of Chilton; 10 sons, Joseph of Sheboygan, Lawrence, Leo, and Louis, all of Chilton, Adolph and Norbert, both of Hilbert, Anton of Appleton and Alex, Gilbert and Lester, all of Menasha; 40 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister in Germany.

A requiem Mass was offered at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Kloten, with the Rev. Thomas Dillenberg, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chilton, the celebrant. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
