Alexander Kerbs was born in Russia,
June 14, 1878, the son of Jacob Kerbs and
Marie Catherine (nee Helfenbein) Kerbs, and
died at the Rush County Memorial Hospital
October 3 at the age of 75 years,
three months and 18 days.

He was baptized in infancy and came to the
United States at the age of nine years and
settled in Kansas in the year 1887. He was
confirmed and joined the Methodist church
at Otis in 1895.

He was united in marriage on
February 2, 1899, to Anna Marie Moore and
established their home five miles north of
Otis, where they lived until 1916 when they
moved to a farm nine miles northwest of
LaCrosse. They lived at this location until
1926 after which they moved to Otis again.
They had six children.

Kerbs had been in ill health for some time
but became seriously til September 28 and
was taken to the Rush County Memorial
Hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Marie; four sons,
Edward, Larkspur, Calif.; Emanuel,
Kansas City, Mo.; Elmer, Ottawa and
Kenneth Warren, Great Bend; two daughters,
Clara Kerbs and Mrs. William Porkorny,
LaCrosse; 15 grandchildren and
one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in
the Otis Methodist church October 5, 1953.
Interment was in the Otis Cemetery.
