Martin Arlyn Roever, 72, Hanover, Kan., died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center, Beatrice, Neb. He was born March 18, 1932, at rural Marysville, Kan., the son of Martin and Felma (Duever) Roever, and attended Hanover High School. He married Helen Paradies on May 12, 1957. He was a farmer and horse trainer who enjoyed running thoroughbred horses. Among his favorites was "Bubble Gum," a nephew to the Triple Crown winner Secretariat. He also enjoyed playing the guitar.

Survivors: wife, Helen; son, Mark Roever of Hanover; daughter, Cathy Bowers of Russell, Iowa; grandchildren, Kevin, Mike, Kelsey and Mindy of Russell; sisters, Darlene Martin of Waterville and Waymeth McMillan of St. Joseph, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Felma (Duever) Roever; infant son, Kevin; brother, Loren Roever.

Private family services were held Wednesday, June 2, at the Hanover Mortuary, with burial in the Hanover Cemetery.
