He worked for nearly 39 years with the US Forest Service, living in northern Minnesota, Kansas, Ohio, Illinois and returning back to Minnesota in 1967 as Assistant Director of the North Central Forest Experiment Station. Preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Genevieve.
