Neighbors and the many friends of Ed Long were grieved to hear of his death last Tuesday afternoon, though death was expected momentarily. Mr. Long had been ill for over two years, his condition gradually becoming worse until in late months he was confined to his bed. An old settler in this community, he was united in marriage to MIss Sophia Luken, daughter of the late Herman Luken, also one of the early pioneers of this community.
He is survived by his widow and two sons, Harry of Hanna, and Ralph, at home. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Luke's Evangelical and Reformed church on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Karl Rest officiating. Interment was made in the San Pierre cemetery. Mr. Long died in his 77th year.
