At the time of her birth in Valla, Moson, Hungary, Catharina Denk was born/baptized as the daughter of Michael Denk and Maria Schwarzbauer.

The area where she was born became subject to Austria on August 28, 1921, and the village is now referred to as Wallern, Burgenland, Austria; Wallern lies in the district of Neusiedl am See.

Burgenland History: In 1043 a peace treaty between Henry III and King Samuel Aba of Hungary fixed the western border of Hungary along the Leitha and Lafnitz rivers, among others. The territory of the present-day Burgenland remained the western border-zone of Hungary until 1920. The demise of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy occured in 1918 and World War I set the date of Burgenland's official unification with Austria as August 28, 1921.

Michael Denk (born 1807) from House 3, married Maria Schwarzbauer (born 1805) from House 75 in 1832. From this union of marriage four children were documented at House 58, Katharina, Anna, Maria, and Matthias Denk.

1. Katharina Denk (born 1837) married Matthias Pitzer (from Tadten) in 1859.
2. Anna Denk (born 1841) married Martin Nagy in 1862. They went to America.
3. Maria Denk (born 1844) married Stefan Summer in 1867.Stefan and Maria built House 189, then sold it and went to America.
4. Matthias Denk (born 1833) married twice, the first time to Maria Salzl of House 91 in 1856 and the second time as a widow to Theresia Waxhofer around 1868.

Matthias Derk's first marriage:
From his marriage to Maria Salzl of House 91. Maria is the daughter of Matthias Salzl of house 91. They had a son recorded at House 58, Florian.
-----Florian Denk (born 1858) married Pauline Graisy in 1885. (See house 141)

Matthias Derk's second marriage:
From his marriage to Theresia Waxhofer (from Holling) he had one son, Matthias.
-----Matthias Derk (born 1868) married Elisabeth Halbauer in 1895.

Matthias Denk (born 1833) and Theresia Waxhofer left house 58 and went to House 136. Their history was continued at 136.
