JULIUS MIHALYFI SUCCUMBS AT 50

Julius Mihalyfi, Clare businessman and active in civic affairs, died Sept. 20 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Sagmaw. He was 50.

He was the owner and operator of the Lone Pine Restaurant and Motel He was Vice President of the Clare Kiwanis Club, member of the Clare City Planning Commission, member of the Clare Industrial Development Corp. and member of the Clare Chamber of Commerce.

He was born July 19, 1928 in Detroit the son of Joseph and Mary (Katia) Mihalyfi. He married Kathleen Miller Jan. 15, 1973 in Harrison.

Mr. Mihalyfi came to Clare In 1971 from Detroit. He served in the Army in 1947 and 1948.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, 2 sons, Gerald of Lincoln Park, and Robert of Alma, 3 grandchildren.

Also surviving Julius are 5 brothers, Steve Manley of Allen Park, William Mihalyfi of Warren, Carl Mihalyfi of Oxford, Zolton Mihalyfi of Menominee, and Ernie Mihalyfi of Los Angles, Calif., 7 sisters, Pearl Witek of Southfield, JoAnn Eellovay of Euclid, Ohio, Alice Hanus of Gates Mills, Ohio, Debbie Silver of Hollywood, Calif., Violet DePuis of San Giego, Calif., Dorothy Mihalyfi of San Francisco, Calif., and Amber Bumey of Ventura, Calif.

Mr. Mihalyfi is also survived by 4 step-brothers, Alex Kisch, Ernie Katia, Arthur Katia, Richard Katia, 2 step-sisters, Gertrude French and Isabelle Shore.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Clare United Methodist Church with Rev. Gil Miller and Rev. William Martin officiating.

Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
