Frank was born in Scotts Bluff, prior to the Garcia family moving to Billings, Montana, where he was a wreslter on the Billings Senior High School wrestling team.

He enlisted in the Marines 17 August 1965, at the Butte Recruiting Office.

Upon arriving in Vietnam on February 1966, Frank was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. When his first tour ended April 1967, Frank stayed in Vietnam for a second tour, beginning his second tour 11 April 1967 with Combined Action Company, A-6, Sub Unit #4, Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Divison.

Frank died as a result of gunshot wounds to the left jaw and left hand from hostile rifle fire and fragmentation wounds to the right knee from a hostile grenades while on a combat patrol, when his CAP Unit engaged Viet Cong enemy forces, 6 kilometers west northwest of the Phu Bai Airfield.

Frank was single and served his for country 2 years, 11 months and 18 days and was KIA #25,850.

First tour of duty date unknown.

Frank was 21 years, 10 months and 2 days old.

Survived by his mother, Ramona Robles, and his brother; Larry (Larry later served with the Marines) and sister; Carmen of 221 South 26th Street, Billings, Montana.


NOTE: His father, Frank Garcia Sr had already died, prior to Frank enlisting in the Marines.

Awarded the Bronze Star Medal ( Valor).
