In a local hospital since Saturday night when he suffered from a stroke, Samuel Propp, Sr., retired farmer, died early Wednesday (Mar. 6) without having regained consciousness since he was stricken ill.
During the last several years, Mr. Propp had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. John (Anna) Bender of 108 North 20th Street. Born in Russia March 12, 1846, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Propp.
In 1867, he was married to Christina Elizabeth Zinn. The couple came to the US in 1900 and settled in Russell, Kansas, afater moving to Garden City, KS. In 1920, they joined several of their children in Billings, and Mr. Propp made his home for a time at 15 South 13th Street. His wife died in October 1926.
Besides his daughter here, Mr. Propp is survived by 4 sons, Philip, of Long Beach, CA, Samuel, Jr. of Worden, John of Topeka, KS, and Jacob of Pecos, TX. Seven other children are dead.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the German Congregational Church with the Rev. August Schiller, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mountview Cemetery, beside the remains of his wife.
