The controversy over Judith's mother has gone on for many, many years. There are several possibilities and NO ONE can PROVE with 100% certainty who her mother was. Many ancestors often had surnames as middle names and even first names. The names "Lewis" and "Clay" have been passed down for many generations in my family as first and middle names for males and continues even today, so we believe her mother was Martha A. Lewis. Martha Runyon was ruled out years ago by family researchers Clyde Runyon and Mary Elizabeth Ferrell.
Judith married Thomas Farley on September 07, 1759 in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
This part of Montgomery County where Judith died became Giles County January 6, 1806. The last record we have of Judith is her selling her farmland in 1809. The exact date of Judith's death is unknown and undocumented. Thomas and Judith are buried in the little cemetery on what was once their farm in Giles County, VA.
This cemetery is near Bane, Virginia. I have visited the cemetery several times, but there are no readable headstones left in this cemetery. There are only old sandstone field stones that have been knocked over and trampled by cattle for many years. This cemetery has been documented by the Giles County Historical Society and I was initially taken to the cemetery by one of their members.
