Funeral services for Augusta H. Heineman were held at the Meyer & Mitchell Mortuary Chapel in Van Nuys, California at 8 p.m. February 16, 1973 with Pastor Gerald Garlid officiating. On Tuesday, February 20, services were held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender with Rev. Drell Bernhardson officiating. Music was provided by Pam Krusemark and Mrs. Drell Bernhardson. Interment was in St. Mark's Cemetery.
Pall bearers were L. Fred Heineman of Morris, Illinois; Bob Heinemann of Sioux City; Edwin Groth of Silver Creek, Nebraska; Marvin Meyer, Erwin Nelson and Francis Fuller.
Augusta Rehling, the oldest of four children, was born March 8, 1892 to Ludwig and Hermine Barkemeyer Rehling at the farm home west of Pender. She received her education in public school and was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. On February 21, 1912 she was united in marriage to Fred C. Heineman. This union was blessed with six children.
They farmed in the Pender area until 1944 when they retired to Pender. She passed away at the Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, California on February 15, 1973.
Surviving are her four sons, Harry L. of Tekamah; Elmer M. of Panorama City, California; Lloyd F. of Morris, Illinois; Gerald B. of Portland, Oregon; and one daughter, Leona (Mrs. Al F. Miller) of Lakeland, Minnesota. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and one brother L. N. Rehling of Pender and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951, her son Raymond, her parents and two brothers, Henry and Herman.
