Ruby D. Nail, 97, of Ankeny, formerly of Webster City, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, surrounded by family members.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Rev. Lyle Greiner officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fosters. Burial will be held at a later date.

Ruby Deloris Greiner was born December 16, 1914, at the family home in Lakefield, Minnesota to Charles and Effie Doolittle Greiner. After graduating from Iowa State College in 1938, she went to work in Cherokee and Plymouth Counties as the County Home Economist. She began teaching English and Home Economics.

On July 3, 1941, Ruby married Everett Nail at the Church of Christ in Webster City. They began their married life on a farm near Forest City, Iowa. After two years they moved to a farm south of Blairsburg where they lived until 1960 when they moved to a farm south of Jewell.

Ruby was later a judge for 4-H demonstration teams at county and state fairs, a member of Rebecca Lodge and a long time Sunday school teacher. She was very active in her local church. In 1961, she began teaching English at South Hamilton of Jewell where she taught until retirement in 1976. In 1985, Buster and Ruby moved to their home on Elm Street in Webster City. After that, Ruby lived in Crestview in Webster City and then Sunny View in Ankeny since 2009.

Family members who preceded her in death were her husband of 62 years, Everett Nail, her parents and brother, Lyman Greiner.

Ruby is survived by three children: daughter, Shirley (Roger) Kjellberg of Ankeny, Bethene (Shane) McMahon, Lauren and Morgan of Ankeny; Brenda (Jeff) Stein, Kristin, Cooper and Connor of West Des Moines; Brent (Dayon) Kjellberg, Ethan, Ella, Rachel and Jimmy of Carroll, Iowa; son, Lloyd (Vicki) Nail and Matthew, West Des Moines; and daughter, Karen (Randy) Willis, Maryville, Missouri, Todd (Rosanna) Willis, Desiree', Alex, Justin, Alexis, Victoria, Hope of Maryville; Carolyn (Oscar) Rodriguez, Elimelec and Catalina of Edwardsville, Kansas; Jason (Tabitha) Willis, Benjamin and Rachel of Lumberton, Texas. Other survivors include: sister-in-law, Jessie Wilson and Ruby's siblings, Loren, 104, Hester, 99, Glenn, 95, Esley, 91, and wife, Alice, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
