From obituaries: "Edward Kraemer was one of those rare men who have a profound effect on the area they live in. He started work in 1907 as a barn builder's assistant at the age of 18. By 1970, when he was honored at a testimonial dinner in Spring Green, he was chairman of the board of his own road building company which at that time employed 660 people. The firm of Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc., is today engaged in general and highway contracting in several midwestern states.
Kraemer was made a Knight of St. Gregory, a papal honor, in 1948 for his civic contributions. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and prominent in civic affairs of this village of Plain for many years."
Edward was married to Gisela Frank on August 19, 1912, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Plain, Sauk County, Wisconsin.
Edward Kraemer & Sons Contractors, built St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain in 1939. This was the fifth church built for the parish of St. Luke's.
