Doris "Perk" Gibbs Elam, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away July 31, 2012 surrounded by her family. Born July 29, 1924 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Clara and Ira R. Gibbs. An active member of First Presbyterian Church for most of her life, "Perk" loved her circle, working the Bargain Box, and served as a church deacon. A charter member of Forum Club, she loved playing bridge, telling and hearing funny jokes. She retired from Worthen Bank where she worked in the installment loan department and was a branch assistant manager. She loved her family and possessed a wonderful sense of humor.

Doris was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Martin H. Elam, her parents, Clara and Ira Gibbs, brothers, John Gibbs, Jimmy Gibbs, Fred Gibbs, Bill Gibbs and sisters, Sally Ramoly, Idell Brooks and Janece Watts. She is survived by two daughters, Marty Elam Walker, of Hot Springs and Janis Elam Dixon, of Benton; one sister, Nadine Lotz, of Hot Springs; seven married grandchildren, Traci (Michael) Hogue, of Little Rock; Chris (Laura) Walker, of Bryant; Jayme (Jennifer) Dixon, Danny (Mia) Dixon, Aaron(Kelly) Dixon, Dr. Jared (Emberlee) Dixon and Joseph (Melanie) Dixon, all of Benton; and 22 great-grandchildren as well as dozens of nieces and nephews who called her "Aunt Perkie". The family expresses its deepest gratitude to Lakewood Nursing Home, where she resided for the last 15 years of her life, and its outstanding staff, as well as to Arkansas Hospice for their sensitive and caring efforts on Doris' behalf. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Jayme, Danny, Aaron, Jared and Joseph Dixon and Chris Walker.

Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 3, 2012 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Lacy Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hot Springs.
