A native of Monroe County were she was born October 16, 1840, Mrs. Hook was formerly Miss Mary Susan Snell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Granville Snell. She was married in 1868 to Samuel Hook of this county, and they moved to the Hook farm northeast of Mexico where Robert Hook now resides and which was settled by the Hook family, being secured from a government land grant.
Mr. Hook died 37 years ago. Mrs. Hook lived alone for awhile but later resided with her son and with her daughter, the late Mrs. Charles Shoup.
Surviving Mrs. Hook are her son, a brother Cliff Snell of Holliday, three grandchildren, Robert Hook of northeast of Mexico, Mrs. Phil Taylor of Tallahassee, Fla., and Sam Shoup of Nashville, Tenn., and four great grandchildren, sons and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hook and Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. Mrs. Hook was a member of the Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the Hook home with the Reverend J.D. Greer assisted by the Reverend Robin Gould in charge. Interment will be made at Elmwood Cemetery.
