Joseph O. Gresl, age 90, formerly of 616 S. 30th St., Manitowoc, died
Thursday morning, May 22, 1997, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center,
Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 1997, at
the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev.
Ronald Reimer with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born September 26, 1906, in Whitelaw, son of the late Joseph and
Sophia Grall Gresl. On July 8, 1930, he married the former Viola M.
Tuschel at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. She preceded him in
death December 4, 1987. Mr. Gresl farmed the family farm in Cato until
1946, then moving to Manitowoc. He was then employed as a carpenter with
various local companies retiring as custodian from St. Paul Catholic
Church and School. Mr. Gresl was a member of the St. Paul Holy Name Society.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Dianne Gresl,
Amherst Junction, Wis.; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Fritz
Emme, Manitowoc; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Emily
Gresl, Appleton, Edna Gresl and Marie Gresl, both of Manitowoc, Marcella
Grall, Whitelaw, Emogine and Raymond Brunner, Whitelaw; six
grandchildren, Julie (Joe) Vandenhouten, Tom (Kay) Emme, Fritz (Kim)
Emme Jr., Cheryl (Dennis) Kluz, Ryan and Michael Gresl; six
great-grandchildren, Jessica, Joey and John Vandenhouten, Nicholas and
Alex Emme, Dannielle Kluz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 17 brothers and
sisters.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. this Friday
(TONIGHT) where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Deacon
Bill Klein.
The family would like to thank the staff of Shady Lane Nursing Care
Center for their tender loving care the past seven years.
