Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Holtkamp
Last night at 6 o'clock, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Menke, corner of Fifth and Locust streets, occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Holtkamp at the advanced age of 74 years, 6 months and 14 days. Deceased had been a patient sufferer for the past four months and died from the effects of a cancer.
Mrs. Holtkamp had lived in Quincy for many years. She was born in Oldenberg, Germany, and came to this country in 1845, locating in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Joseph H. Holtkamp in that city in 1849. They came to Quincy in 1865. Mr. Holtkamp died some four years ago.
They had three children, only one of which survives them, namely Mrs. B.H. Menke, at whose home Mrs. Holtkamp died. Deceased was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic church, from which church she will be buried, the remains to be interred in St. Boniface cemetery.
