She was born August 20, 1922 in Knox County to John E. and Ulla Mae (Popham) Johnson.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Nancy Van Houten of Gambier; a daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Dean Robinson of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Van Houten, Christopher Van Houten, A1C Andrew Van Houten, Gordon Robinson, Nicholas Van Houten, Barbara Trent, Jennifer Van Houten; great grandchildren, Bre’ette Van Houten, Tagbatha Cassalaspro, Cassandra Trent; 2 brothers, Eldon Mowery of Mount Vernon and Robert Mowery of Alaska; 2 sisters, Bertha White of Columbus and Agnes Rutkowski of Mount Vernon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Van Houten on July 25, 1988; 1 son, Richard W. Van Houten; 1 daughter, Barbara Lee Van Houten; 2 brothers, John and Glen Johnson.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Grohe Funeral home, Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.
