Mount Vernon—Harold C. Van Houten, 70, of 1006 W. Gambier Street, died Monday evening in Knox Community Hospital.
Mr. Van Houten was born July 10, 1918 in Morrow Co. to Gerald and Olive (Bostwick) Van Houten. A resident of Knox Co. most of his life, he was a retired Cooper Energy Service employee.
Surviving are his mother, Olive Van Houten of Mount Vernon; his wife, Myrtle (Johnson) Van Houten; a son, Neil Van Houten of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Eean (Gale) Robinson of Mount Vernon; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a brother, Wendell Van Houten of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Richard W. Van Houten; and a daughter, Barbara Lee Van Houten.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Grohe Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, where the funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday. The rev. Dan Duffy will officiate. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.
