Hastings New Era: Mr. Nicholas Kranz, father of N. F. W. Kranz, our county register of deeds, met his death in a painful manner last week at his son's residence. He was walking down a pair of stairs, but from some cause missed his footing and fell to the bottom. The family rushed to the scene, but found him dead at the bottom of the stairs, and further investigation showed that his neck was broken. He was aged 81 years and 4 months, and had been a resident of the city for many years. His death creates sadness among relatives and all who knew him alike.
