Former area resident Helen (Lukas) Crist, 87, of Lancaster, Calif., died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Lancaster.
There were no services. The remains were cremated. Burial was at Singing Hills Cemetery in El Cajon, Calif. Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel in Lancaster was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Christ was born Aug. 13, 1918, to Joseph and Agnes (Cecava) Lukas at Deweese. She grew up on the family homestead east of Blue Hill. She attended School District 77 east of Blue Hill and graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1935. She moved to Denver in about 1938. She was a dental assistant and dental technician. She served in the Women's Army Corps starting in 1943, where she was a sergeant and dental technician. On Nov. 11, 1942, she married Elester m. Christ when they were stationed at Marana Air Base near Tucson, Ariz. They lived in various cities in California.
Survivors are her husband Elester; three sons, Stanley of Lancaster, Russell of Lakeside, Calif., and Bradley of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Frank of Hastings; one sister, Elizabeth Riggs of Arvada, Colo.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
