Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Chillicothe, TX., officiating will be Rev. Wallace Clay. Interment will be at Chillicothe Cemetery under the direction of Smith Chapel. Chillicothe, TX.
James was born Tuesday, October 27, 1931 in Wilbarger County, Texas. He was the son of the late Silas Earl Boone and the late Myrtie Thomas Boone. He married Gloria Pate on May 5, 1956 in Vernon, TX. He had lived in this area all of his life. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal Infantryman. He was owner & operator of Boone Bros. Farms. He was a Volunteer for Chillicothe VFD, Hardeman Co. Project Show Director, Honorary State FFA Degree in 1981. He was Wilbarger Co. Conservation Farmer of the year in 1995. In 1980 Committee member of the Chillicothe Civic Center & Ag. Pavilion. He was a member of FFA & 4-H Adult Leader. He was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.
He loved to coach his daughter's softball teams and basketball teams and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Gloria Jean Pate Boone of the home.
