James Monroe Minor was born on a farm near Huntsville, June 7, 1876. He had departed this life at his home south of Huntsville, September 18, 1928 at the age of 52 years, 3 months and 11 days.
He had been in ill health with heart trouble for about a year. Several doctors had been consulted but is seemed of no avail. After much parient suffering on his part and the ministration of loving hands of his family and friends death came as his only relief.
Early in life he united with the Mount Salem Baptist Church of which he remained a consistent and loyal member.
He was married to Mary Lee Oliver, December 22, 1897. To this union seven children were born all of whom are still living except one daughter, who died in infancy.
He was a devoted husband, a kind an dindulgent father, and accomdating neighbor and a good citizen. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, six children: Mrs Opal Finnell of Huntsville, Leo and Wendell of Moberly, and Wilma Fay, Wilber Ray, and Martha Frances of the home. He also leaves a mother, Mrs. Laura Benner of Huntsville, four brothers: T. A. of Moberly, N. D. of Huntsville, Jessie of Columbia, and D. K. of Kansas City, and three sisters: Miss Leona of Huntsville, Mrs. Thulia Mathis of Moberly, and Mrs. Sallie Thompson of Texas.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at Huntsville, this Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. P. Davidson assisted by Rev. P. F. Sears in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. A quartette composed of Frank Stonner, Frank Lyon, Mylo Darr, and Vic Ellis. Mrs. Lucy Sands sang a solo. These composed the choir. The pallbearers were: Will Brockman, H. H. Malone, Stonewall Jackson, Floyd, Tom and Charlie Fullington.
Interment in City Cemetery.
