He pursued a career of photography. For a short time he had moved to Sheboygan with his brother Richard. Together they took pictures. But soon he moved back to Calumetville.
He possibly met Nora Jane Haner on one of his assignments. They married 26 Jan 1887 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, Marathon County. The marriage was short lived but produced a son, Earl Lindner. It is unknown if Frank's family knew about the wife or child. Possibly he himself didn't know about the son. Nora marries 3 times after that. When Frank appears in census records he's listed as single. His death record (brother Richard was the informant) lists him as single.
In later years he earned his living by working for various farmers.
In Nov. 1913 he was found dead in the stall of his horse by neighbor Christian Heller. Both horse and dog hadn't been fed. It is thought that he had died from heart failure while doing chores. He had been known to have dizzy spells.
Both the church record at St.Paul's Evangelical & Reformed church and the county death record states that Frank was buried in the cemetery in Calumetville, but no gravestone survived if it ever existed.
I've used "Godlieb" as his middle name, following the spelling in the county courthouse records for his death. I suspect it was actually spelled "Gottlob" as was his father, grandfather, and a cousin.
