Mary Margolis, 106, a former grocer, died March 1, 1991, in the Shalom Geriatric Center, 7801 Holmes Road, where she lived.
Mrs. Margolis was born May 13, 1884, in Russia and moved to Kansas City in 1907. She and her husband owned grocery stores in Kansas City from 1907 to 1942. She was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and its sisterhood. She was a member of Hadassah and the B'nai B'rith Women. Her husband, Alexander Margolis, died in 1967.
Survivors include a son, Bernard A. Margolis of the home; three daughters, Bertha Cortez and Jeanette Soble of Overland Park and Sylvia Vincent, Prairie Village; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Sheffield Cemetery. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the Mary and Alexander Margolis scholarship fund at the synagogue.
