Bernard A. Margolis, 84, of the Shalom Geriatric Center, a former executive for the Katz Drug Co., died July 14, 1992, at Menorah Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Sheffield Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Mary and Alexander Margolis Scholarship Fund of Kehilath Israel Synagogue.
Mr. Margolis worked for the company from 1929 to 1934 and from 1960 until he retired as director of special promotions in 1972. He formerly was a store manager, buyer, sales promotional manager and divisional merchandising manager for the company and planned the Kansas City Philharmonic concerts sponsored by the company. He was general manager of the Parkview pharmacies in the 1930s and 1940s and then was a marketing, advertising and public relations executive.
He was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and B'nai B'rith.
He was a member of the Forty Years Ago Column Club. He received a degree in pharmacy from the Kansas City School of Pharmacy in 1926, was the youngest person ever to graduate from the school, and was a member of the 50 Year Club of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He was a lifelong area resident.
Survivors include three sisters, Bertha Cortez and Jeanette Soble of Overland Park and Sylvia Vincent, Prairie Village.
