Death of Mrs. Corda Sloan
Mrs. Corda Sloan, widow of Harry Slaon, died New Year's day, 1942, in Phoenix, Arizona, after a brief illness following a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Sloan, while maintaining a home in Hamilton, had spent the winters for several years at Phoenix and she and her sister Mrs. Leone Jones, and the latter's daughters, lived together.
Mrs. Sloan's maiden name was Lewis and she spent her early life at Kingston. The family lived here for many years and Mr. Sloan was employed at the Hale store and later was with McLeans clothing store. About 1918 he went with the J.C. Penney Company and was a store manager until his sudden death while living in Oklahoma. Mrs. Sloan returned to Hamilton after the death of her husband. The funeral service, conducted by Dr. Albert Wilson, was held at the Sloan home Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in Highland Cemetery.
Corda, daughter of Elwood and Elizabeth Lewis, was born August 4, 1872, at Gallatin, Mo. On November 9, 1890, she was united in marriage to Harry Sloan, and of this union was born one son, Lewis W. Sloan.
