She was educated at Dana Hall in Wellesley, MA, took a Red Cross nursing course and was sent to France as a nurse during World War I. Her experiences during this time are covered in the book, A Red Triangle Girl in France which is made up of selected letters from her to her parents that were published by her father without her knowledge. Her husband, Dr. Pudney, practiced medicine in Montclair, NJ until they retired to Encino, Los Angeles County, CA. He had severe diabetes and died there, December 2, 1966. Alice moved back to Montclair, NJ, to be near her family, but returned to California before her death, April 10, 1974, in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, CA.
They had no children.
